MSI Intros Notebook with Turbo Battery Technology

MSI announced at CeBIT the notebook GX600-08, the first with the  exclusive Turbo Battery Technology. When the notebook is operating on Turbo Battery Mode, the programs that are being used are adjusted and either stop or lower the parts that are not currently running. And while the GX600-08 is in AC Mode, just press the turbo button above the keyboard and the speed of the CPU and the system will increase up to 20%.

GX600-08 is equipped with Intel Centrino® Duo Mobile Technology, Intel Core2 Duo processor and Intel PM965 Express Chipset. It also comes with Nvidia Geforce 8600M GT 3D graphic card (Build-in 512 VRAM), 15.4" LCD monitor, digital/analog 5.1 Channel headphone output and built-in SPDIF connection, up to 320 GB SATA HD and up to 4GB DDR2 667Mhz of memory.

Apple Releases Macbook Air

Steve Jobs announced in his keynote at MacWorld San Francisco the new Apple's Macbook Air. The 'world's thinest notebook'measures 0.16 to 0.76 inch of sleek and weighs just 3.0 pounds (1.36 kg).

Battery works wireless for five hours. It comes with Intel Core 2 Duo processor,  4MB on-chip shared L2 cache, 800MHz frontside bus, 2 GB of 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM onboard, 80GB 4200-rpm ATA hard disk drive, built-in AirPort Extreme Wi-Fi wireless networking and Bluetooth 2.1.

ASUS unveiled the world’s first one-terabyte notebook in collaboration with Hitachi Global Storage Technologies. Travelstar 5K500 (500 GB 2.5 Inch hard drive) from Hitachi has been integrated into the ASUS M series multimedia notebook PCs. The new ASUS M50 and M70 will ship with two of the Travelstar 5K500.

Dell released the XPS M1730 notebook, built up for gamers. It is the world's first notebook to incorporate AGEIA PhysX Mobile Technology and Logitech's GamePanel LCD.

The AGEIA PhysX Accelerator accelerates the scale and quality of real-time physics on PhysX-enabled games, for a level of dynamic motion and interaction never before experienced in mobile gaming, says Dell. The GamePanel LCD allows gamers to view game stats, create new macros and track important system information without leaving the game.

It supports Intel Core 2 Extreme processor X7900 to Bin +2 (up to 3.2GHz), a backlit keyboard with separate 10-key number pad, a high-definition display with response time of 7 milliseconds, a built-in Web camera and digital array microphone. XPS M1730 can also be personalized with up to 4 GB of DDR2 and 2 SATA hard drives for up to 1/2 terabyte of storage capacity.

The new notebook can be personalized with four color: Crimson Red, Sapphire Blue, Bone White, and Smoke Grey.

ASUS Announces T500 3.5G High Speed PC Card

ASUS has announced the release of the ASUS T500 3.5G High Speed PC card, which is able to provide users with 3.6Mbps data download speed, and offers phone communication functions for the PC or laptop.

The T500 card has an audio path from the PC card headset jack and supports voice call functions. With the PC, there is no limit in the number of records in the PC site, and this will include Names, mobile numbers, home numbers, office numbers and Email addresses. It also supports SIM, phone book and Outlook sync functions to manage contacts in the phone and laptop with ease. Another powerful function is the call log feature, which can record 100 records for missed calls, dialed calls and received calls. Users will be able to send SMS and save contact numbers from this log – making it more efficient to keep track of contacts.

It supports GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900, as well as WCDMA 2100/1900/850 access services. It also features a data download speed of 3.6Mbps and an upload speed of 384kbps.

Toshiba to Use AMD Chip in Laptop

Toshiba, fourth-largest laptop PC maker, announces that 20% of its laptops will be powered by AMD chips.  Toshiba plans to put AMD chips in moderate-priced standard models for individual and corporate clients, and the first models will be released in this second quarter.

The move follows an announcement last year by Dell, the world's second-largest PC maker that had been procuring microprocessors only from Intel for more than two decades, that it would begin using chips from AMD.

Motorola has announced the new generation of tne RAZR brand, RAZR 2 will be available in July and is two millimeters slimmer from the original RAZR. It brings 2" external screen and 2,2" internal screen. The RAZR2 family’s three new handsets – V9 (3G HSDPA), V9m (EVDO CDMA) and V8 (GSM). They have up to 2 GB of on-board memory, 2 MP camera, and new ARM 11 processor (processing speed is 10 times faster than the original RAZR and with high-speed USB 2.0 it only takes 2-3 seconds to transfer a song, says Motorola).

Dell has launched of its Latitude D630 and D830 notebooks, based on Intel's Santa Rosa platform. They feature the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processors, next-generation wireless technologies and extended capacity batteries. The D630 features a 14.1-inch wide aspect XGA display while the D830 has a 15.4-inch wide aspect XGA display. The Latitude D630 is priced starting from US$1,189, while the Latitude D830 has a price starting at US$1,249.

Dell Offers SSD on Latitude Notebooks

Dell announced two notebooks with 1.8" SSD. The Latitude D420 ultra-mobile and Latitude D620 ATG semi-rugged notebooks come with SanDisk SSD UATA 5000 drives.

The drive offers read speeds of 62MB/sec and had an access speed of 0.12 milliseconds. The drive also boosts overall system performance by 23 percent and reduced boot times by 34 percent on the D420 and D620. Consumers can buy UATA 5000 drive for USD 549, but it costs USD 450 as an option on the D420 and USD 300 as an option on the D620 ATG.

Acer recalls Sony Notebooks’s Batteries

Acer has announced a recall of ithium-ion battery packs made by Sony. There have been 16 reports of notebook batteries overheating. The affected units include several different models of Acer TravelMate and Acer Aspire laptops sold in the United States and Canada between May 2004 and November 2006.
