Case

Cubitek has just launched the Magic Cube series of computer case, which is comprised of two models: Magic Cube B210 and Magic Cube B211. These cases are pretty interesting because they feature a modular design, meaning they actually consist of three separate modules: the main module for the motherboard, CPU and video cards, the storage module for hard drives, and the drive module for optical drives and card readers.

The main difference between the B210 and B211 models is that the storage module of the B210 model can hold up to three 3.5” hard drives and one 2.5” hard drive/SSD drive, and features a 80-mm fan, while the storage module of the B211 model supports up to eight 3.5” hard drives and two 2.5” hard drives/SSD drives, and features two 120-mm fans.

The drive module of both cases features four 5.25” external bays and one 3.5” bay (converted from one of the 5.25” bays).

The main module of both cases supports Micro-ATX, ATX or E-ATX motherboards, and features one 140-mm frontal fan, one 120-mm rear fan, and one 140-mm top fan.

The Magic Cube B210 and Magic Cube B211 case are built from aluminum, have two USB 3.0 ports and one eSATA port, and are now available for € 179.90 and € 199.90, respectively.

Case

Thermaltake has announced the immediate availability of the Level 10 GT full-tower case, which was introduced during 2011 the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) held in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Level 10 GT is the successor of the original Level 10, which was designed in collaboration between Thermaltake and BMW Group DesignworksUSA.

Contrary to the original Level 10, the new Level 10 GT is built in SECC steel instead of extruded aluminum, what can explain why this new model is much cheaper than the original model. While the original Level 10 is priced at USD 800, the new Level 10 GT comes to the market with a suggested price of USD 280.

In the table below we’ve compared these two cases.

CES 2011: New Micro ATX Case From SilverStone
Author: Cássio Lima Date: January 9, 2011 - 1:08 PM PST
Category: Case
More Info: http://www.silverstone.com
Case

SilverStone released this CES the FT03, a small form factor (SFF) case for micro ATX and mini-ITX motherboards following the same concept introduced with the Raven RV01 and followed by the Raven RV02 and Fortress FT02: the motherboard is rotated 90º, making the motherboard rear connectors to be facing the top of the case. Since hot air tends to go up, this change improves thermal dissipation.

The FT03 comes with three fans, and if the bottom fan is removed, you can install a second long video card, allowing to build a small yet powerful gaming PC. The only limitations of this case are regarding the optical drive, that must be slim (same kind used in laptop computers), and the length of the power supply, which cannot be greater than 7.2” (180 mm).

The case has a hot-swap bay that can be removed from the top of the case.
