Corsair has just expanded their HX power supply line-up with the release of two new models, 750 W (HX750W) and 850 W (HX850W). Enermax has just unveiled its newest PSU series, called ECO80+. Available in 350 W, 400 W, 500 W and 620 W models, units from this new series feature active PFC, efficiency up to 86%, two +12 V rails (click here to learn more about this subject), a 120-mm fan with speed between 500 rpm and 2,000 rpm according to PSU’s internal temperature, and protections against overvoltage (OVP), overload (OPP), overcurrent (OCP), over temperature (OTP) and short-circuit (SCP). Thermaltake has officially launched Toughpower Ultra Slim 65W (we’ve already seen this product during CES 2009), a universal laptop charger. The product measures 2.95” x 7” x 5.5” or 7.5 cm x 17.8 cm x 14 cm (W x H x D), weights 8.56 oz (214 g), provides above 82% efficiency and has 115 V/230 V auto voltage selection. It comes with a series of eight different power plugs in order to match several different notebook models and a switch for you to select the output voltage between 15 V and 21 V to allow you to feed practically all laptops available on the market. Seasonic has announced its power supply series with 80Plus certification (which means they have efficiency up to 92%) that comes to compete with Antec Signature series. PSUs from this series will be available in 550 W (efficiency up to 87%), 650 W (efficiency up to 90%) and 750 W (efficiency up to 87%) versions, will have active PFC, Japanese solid aluminum caps, DC to DC converter design for 3.3 V and 5 V outputs (i.e, these outputs are generated from switching voltage regulators connected to the 12 V output), dual-rail project (click here to know more about this subject), modular cabling system, a 120-mm fan, tighter 3% regulation (usually power supplies have 5% tolerance for their outputs), will be labeled at 50º C and will have 5-year warranty. Like Antec Signature these power supplies will reach the market costing more than competing products.

Just like Thermaltake, Cooler Master also released their version of a universal laptop charger. Cooler Master product, however, doesn’t have an output voltage selection switch: the output is always fixed at 19 V. According to Cooler Master the vast majority of laptops found on the market are fed with 19 V. On the other hand it comes with a USB port for charging USB-based devices (e.g. iPods). This port can deliver up to 1 A. Cooler Master universal charger comes with eight different power plugs in order to match several different notebook models (on the picture below one of the plugs was being used on the laptop on the right). Cooler Master didn't say anything about when this product will reach the market or price range.  click to enlarge

During CES 2009 Thermaltake presented a 65 W universal laptop charger. The product is very slim, provides above 82% efficiency and has 115 V/230 V auto voltage selection. It comes with a series of eight different power plugs in order to match several different notebook models and a switch for you to select the output voltage between 15 V and 21 V to allow you to feed practically all laptops available in the market. This is indeed a very good idea. Thermaltake didn't tell us when this product is expected to reach the US market or its price range.  click to enlarge
