Thermaltake has announced the release of the Smart series of power supplies, which are available in non-modular and modular versions. These units are compatible with ATX12V v2.3 standards, feature 80 Plus Bronze certification (modular units) or 80 Plus Standard (non-modular units), a single +12 V rail, active PFC circuitry, Japanese solid capacitors, a 120 mm fan (non-modular units) or a 140 mm fan (modular units), and protection against over current (OCP), under voltage (UVP), over voltage (OVP), short-circuit (SCP) and over power (OPP) protections. Below, you can see the models launched. Information on pricing was not provided.

OCZ’s power supply subsidiary, PC Power & Cooling, has launched the Silencer Mk III series of power supplies, which feature 80 Plus Bronze certification and a modular cabling system (Silencer Mk III is the first PC Power & Cooling PSU series with this feature). Available in 400 W, 500 W, and 600 W versions, these units are compatible with ATX12V v2.3 standard, have an active PFC circuitry, one +12 V rail, Japanese capacitors, and a 120 mm dual-ball bearing fan.

OCZ Unveils Modular ZT Power Supply Series

Today, OCZ expanded their power supply offering with the launch of the Modular ZT series, which includes 550 W, 650 W, and 750 W models, all featuring a modular cabling system, 80 Plus Bronze certification, a 140 mm fan, and a single +12 V rail. Modular ZT units are compatible with ATX12V v2.3 standard, have an active PFC circuit, and electrolytic capacitors rated at 105°C.

These units will be available soon with a suggested price of USD 99.99 (550 W), USD 109.99 (650 W), and USD 119.99 (750 W).

The German power supply manufacturer, Be Quiet!, has updated their Straight Power series of PSUs with the launch of the E9 line, which comes in eight models: 400 W, 450 W, 480 W, 500 W, 580 W, 600 W, 680 W, and 700 W. All of them feature 80 Plus Gold certification, an active PFC circuitry, a 135 mm fan with fluid dynamic bearing, four +12 V rails (the 400 W model has three), and protections against over voltage (OVP), over current (OCP), under voltage (UVP), over power (OPP), short circuit (SCP), and over temperature (OTP). The 480 W, 580 W and 680 W models have a modular cabling system.

Be Quiet! did not provide pricing information for the US market.

Today, Cooler Master has introduced a brand new, high-end lineup of power supplies, the Silent Pro Hybrid. It includes 850 W, 1050 W, and 1300 W models, all featuring an active PFC circuit, 80 Plus Gold certification, a 135 mm hydraulic dynamic bearing fan, a single +12 V rail, Japanese caps, and protections against over voltage (OVP), under voltage (UVP), over current (OCP), over power (OPP), over temperature (OTP), and short-circuit (SCP). They are also compatible with ATX12V v2.3 and EPS v2.92 standards and come with a fan speed controller that occupies a 5.25” drive bay on the computer case and enables a user to control the Silent Pro Hybrid 135 mm fan along with up to three other system fans.

Silent Pro Hybrid power supplies are now available worldwide with the following prices:

  • 850 W – USD 199.99
  • 1050 W – USD 249.99

Enermax has just launched a new series of 80 Plus Platinum power supplies, the Platimax, which includes 600 W, 750 W, 850 W, 1,000 W, and 1,200 W models. All of them feature a modular cabling system, an active PFC circuitry, Japanese caps, a 139 mm twister-bearing fan, a multiple rail design, and protections against over voltage (OVP), over current (OCP), under voltage (UVP), over power (OPP), and over temperature (OTP). Thermaltake has just announced the second-generation of their Dr. Power power supply tester, a product ideal for users wanting to test and diagnose the power supply’s condition before damage occurs.

The Dr. Power II supports every ATX power supply available today up to ATX12V v2.3 and tests every power supply output (SATA, PCI-Express, peripheral, floppy and CPU connector). It comes with an LCD display that shows the value of each specific power rail, and a built-in alarm system, which warns users for possible problems.

The Dr. Power II will become available this month, but its price wasn’t revealed.
