New Cooling Tecnhology From Sparkle
Author: Cássio Lima Date: February 17, 2009 - 9:17 AM PST
Category: Cooling
More Info: http://www.sparkle.com.tw/News/SP_DLC/news_SP_DLC_en.html
Cooling

Sparkle has announced its newest cooling technology for video cards. It is based on diamond sputtering, where a diamond-like carbon (DLC) membrane is added on the video card heatsink’s fins. According to Sparkle with this technique the heat generated by the GPU and memory chips is transferred quicker, thus improving the overall performance of the cooler. In tests conducted by Sparkle, the working temperature of one GeForce 9500 GT could be reduced by 5° C using diamond-like carbon membrane when compared with a traditional cooling solution. In addition to improving heat dissipation, the use of diamond-like carbon membrane helps protect the fins from scratches. Sparkle is analyzing whether they will use this technology in commercial products.

Cooling

Thermaltake has just launched ProWater880i (CL-W0171), a very interesting water-cooling solution to installed on the rear part of the case instead of being installed inside the case like other water-cooling solutions (normally this approach make difficults maintenance and decreases the PC internal airflow). So ProWater880i pump, radiator (equipped with two 120-mm fans with fan speed between 1,000 rpm and 2,000 rpm) and liquid tank are placed outside of the case (on the back part). According to the type of case the hoses can get into the system through one of the slots for expansion cards or through holes. The waterblock is made of copper. Thermaltake didn’t say when how much this product will reach the market.

Category: Cooling
More Info: http://www.xpressar.com
Cooling

During this CES Thermaltake showed Xpressar RCB400G, a cooler using phase changing technology, a fancy name for what everybody knows as a refrigerator. Xpressar RCB400G uses the same idea and components as a refrigerator or a freezer. The very cold air produced by the equipment is blown thru a pipe to a copper block that is attached on top of the CPU or GPU. The product has an LCD display that monitors the CPU or GPU temperature. Xpressar RCB400G takes four 5 ¼” bays and instead of using stiff pipes, as its little brother Xpressar RCS100, it uses a flexible one that allows you to easily move it inside the case. No word on pricing and availability.
