Patriot has expanded their media player line-up with the launch of the PBO Alpine model.

The PBO Alpine is equipped with an ARM926 processor and supports HD video output in full 1,080p resolution at 30 frames per second. It comes preloaded with iRadio, iTV, YouTube, Picasa, and a fully functional web browser. For enthusiasts, the PBO Alpine offers support for user developed apps that can be side-loaded for custom functionality.

The new Patriot’s media player also features two USB 2.0 ports, one SD card reader, and comes with the Android operating system installed.

See below the file formats supported by the PBO Alpine:

  • Video: M-JPEG, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.263, H.264, VC-1, DivX, Xvid, RealVideo, VP6, and .MKV
  • Audio: ACC-LC/HEACC/HE-AAC v2, DTS, AC3, AMR-NB, DTS, MP3, OGG, and RA_COOK

Blue Launches World’s First Professional-Grade USB Microphone

Blue has announced the launch of the world’s first professional-grade USB microphone. Dubbed Yeti Pro, the device provides a sample rate of 192 KHz, a resolution of 24 bits, a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, and a sensitivity of 4.5 mV/Pa (1 kHz). It also has an analog XLR output. It has three custom condenser capsules and four different pattern settings, and comes with a suggested price of USD 249.

Arctic Sound Announces Series of 2.1 Speakers

Arctic Sound, sub-brand from the cooler manufacturer Arctic for audio products, has introduced a new line of 2.1 speakers. This new series is made up of four models. The first one, called Arctic Sound S151, features two 3.5 W RMS speakers, a 10 W RMS subwoofer with built-in volume and bass control, and it costs USD 29.90. The Arctic Sound S161 model has two 3.5 W RMS circular speakers with blue LEDs, an 11 W RMS subwoofer with built-in volume and bass control, and it costs USD 37.90. The Arctic Sound S361 model has two speakers equipped with two 18 W RMS satellites each, a 40 W RMS subwoofer, and a wired remote control. This one costs USD 99. The most expansible model, the Arctic Sound S362, has two 12 W RMS speakers, a 50 W RMS subwoofer featuring a 144-mm high fidelity membrane, and it costs USD 109.90.

Creative Unveils Speaker in Form of Rock

It seems that the SkyMall magazine, which is available inside airplanes and sells the most bizarre junk ever invented, has inspired the Creative, since this company has just launched a speaker encased in a granite-rock like exterior. The granite, I mean, the speaker, measures 305 mm x 285 mm 350 mm (L x H x W), weighs 13.88 lbs (6.3 kg), is waterproof, and make use of wireless technology (2.4 GHz) with a range of up to 30 m. It also comes with a rechargeable Li-ion battery. If you like this invention you can buy it for USD 200.

ASUS has expanded its Xonar line-up with the launch of Xonar DS 7.1 sound card. Based on PCI bus, this sound card provides 7.1 audio, has a 192 KHz sampling rate, 24-bit resolution, 107 dB signal/noise rate (SNR) and supports VocalFX, EAX and DTS Connect technologies. ASUS has just introduced SDRW-08D1S-U, a very slim external DVD writer. Available in black or silver colors, this device measures 6.15" x 5.54" x 0.8" or 156.4 mm  x 140.8 mm x 21 mm (H x W x W), weights 0.9 lb or 412 g (0.95 lb or 435 g with stand), can be placed vertically or horizontally, has a USB 2.0 interface and 2 MB buffer. During this CES Creative Labs showed a new version of its TravelSound that is more than a simple docking station with built-in speakers for Third Gen iPod Nano. It has a built-in FM receiver, feature not present on Apple iPods. So you can tune in your favorite radio station and enjoy it with your friends without having to share your earphones or carry a bulky docking speaker with you. This product should reach the market this year, but Creative didn’t say how much it will cost.

ASUS Unveils Xonar D1 PCI Audio Card

ASUS has just launched a PCI version of the Xonar D1 soundcard. Equipped with AV100 chip, which features a 116 dB output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and a 112 dB input signal-to-noise ratio, with 24-bit resolution and up to 192 KHz sampling rate, this new soundcard features 7.1 audio format and supports DS3D GX 2.0 and VocalFX technologies. Xonar D1 PCI will reach the market next month.

ASUS unveiled the Xonar HDAV1.3, the world’s first HDMI 1.3a compliant audio/video enhancement combo card. Capable of outputting uncompressed multichannel high definition audio from Blu-ray movies, the Xonar HDAV1.3 also enhances incoming HDMI video with an onboard HD processor, says ASUS.

The Xonar HDAV1.3 is capable of decoding Blu-ray movies and delivers the 7.1 channel 192K linear pulse code modulation (LPCM) audio. Xonar sound cards further reduce EMI noise inside modern PCs, providing clean 120 dB SNR and peerless 0.0004% low distortion.

Asustek unveils two new cards from the Xonar audio card family. The Xonar D2X has PCI Express interface 2X and Xonar U1 has  USB interface.A new technoly - DS3D GX extension - provide support for surround sound and hardware accelerated features by translating DirectX to the DS3D GX.

The Xonar D2X also includes the “Acoustics Echo Cancellation” (AEC) technology, which can eliminate up-to-40dB speaker echo return. It features a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 118 dB for both audio in and out. The Xonar D2X is able to deliver 118 dB quality audio for all 7.1 channels. It also includes Dolby Digital Live, which converts PC or game audio content into Dolby Digital in real-time; Dolby Headphone, which creates a surround sound listening experience when using any set of headphones; Dolby Virtual Speaker, which delivers a surround sound listening experience from stereo speakers and Dolby Pro Logic IIx, which creates up to 7.1-channel surround sounds from stereo or 5.1 sources as well as DTS Interactive for real time AC-3 encoding and DTS NEP: PC stereo to multi-channel expander.

The Xonar U1 is an external USB audio device that improves audio by eliminating electromagnetic interference (EMI) and noisy DC circuits inside the PC chassis. It also offers DAC (digital to analog convertor) to improve music or gaming audio. It features Dolby Virtual Speaker, Dolby Headphone, Dolby Digital Live and Dolby Prologic IIx.

Creative announced the Wireless Headphones SE2300 with bluetooth technology. The earphones also features an audio transmitter that can wirelessly operate up to a range of 10 metres, a cool lightweight design, user-friendly controls and advanced Bluetooth technology.

It has a built in-rechargeable Li-Ion battery, which works up to 8 hours. In addition, the E2300 emits a beeping sound when its battery levels are low. It can be charged using either an AC outlet or USB port.
