OCZ has announced their first SSD drives based on the Indilinx Everest controller, which is a dual-core part. The Octane will be available in two versions: one with SATA-600 interface (Octane) and one with SATA-300 interface (Octane-S2). The Octane models feature synchronous memory and provide maximum read and write speeds of up to 560 MB/s and 400 MB/s, respectively. The Octane-S2 models, on the other hand, use asynchronous memory and provide maximum read and write speeds of up to 275 MB/s and 265 MB/s, respectively. The Octane family has 512 MB of DRAM cache and provides support for TRIM, NCQ, and AES encryption. It will be available November 1 in models ranging from 128 GB to 1 TB capacities.  click to enlarge

The German power supply manufacturer, Be Quiet!, has updated their Straight Power series of PSUs with the launch of the E9 line, which comes in eight models: 400 W, 450 W, 480 W, 500 W, 580 W, 600 W, 680 W, and 700 W. All of them feature 80 Plus Gold certification, an active PFC circuitry, a 135 mm fan with fluid dynamic bearing, four +12 V rails (the 400 W model has three), and protections against over voltage (OVP), over current (OCP), under voltage (UVP), over power (OPP), short circuit (SCP), and over temperature (OTP). Zalman has officially announced the CNPS12X, a CPU cooler that features no less than three fans. It was first shown to the public at this year's Computex. The CNPS12X uses three 120 mm fans (with blue LEDs) with speeds varying between 850 and 1,200 rpm and noise level between 22 and 24 dBA.
