OCZ Announces Octane Family of SSD Drives

OCZ has announced their first SSD drives based on the Indilinx Everest controller, which is a dual-core part. The Octane will be available in two versions: one with SATA-600 interface (Octane) and one with SATA-300 interface (Octane-S2).

The Octane models feature synchronous memory and provide maximum read and write speeds of up to 560 MB/s and 400 MB/s, respectively. The Octane-S2 models, on the other hand, use asynchronous memory and provide maximum read and write speeds of up to 275 MB/s and 265 MB/s, respectively.

The Octane family has 512 MB of DRAM cache and provides support for TRIM, NCQ, and AES encryption. It will be available November 1 in models ranging from 128 GB to 1 TB capacities.

Cooler Master Announces Silencio 450 Mid-Tower Case

Cooler Master has announced other computer cases designed for those users who love a quiet system. The Silencio 450 features a layer of foam on both side panels to absorb noise and make the computer quieter. To top it off, it has a solid-steel unshakable structure and rubber feet, features that keep the computer even quieter.

The product supports microATX and ATX motherboards, measures 7.63 x 17.77 x 19.47 inches (194 x 451.45 x 494.75 mm), weighs 13.66 lbs (6.2 kg), has three 5.25” external bays, one 3.5” external bay, five 3.5” internal bays, one 3.5”/2.5” internal bay, one USB 3.0 port, one USB 2.0 port, one SD card reader, and two 120 mm fans, one on the front panel and one on the rear panel.

Raidmax Releases Seiran Mid-Tower Case

The Seiran is the latest mid-tower case from Raidmax. It comes in three color versions: black, red and white. It features nine 5.25” external bays, four 3.5”/2.5” internal bays, seven slots for expansion cards, one USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 ports, and two 120 mm fans, one on the front panel and one on the rear panel.

The Seiran also has an acrylic side window, holes through which to pass liquid cooling tubes, and a fan speed controller. It will be available next month with a suggested price of USD 79.99.

OCZ Unveils Modular ZT Power Supply Series

Today, OCZ expanded their power supply offering with the launch of the Modular ZT series, which includes 550 W, 650 W, and 750 W models, all featuring a modular cabling system, 80 Plus Bronze certification, a 140 mm fan, and a single +12 V rail. Modular ZT units are compatible with ATX12V v2.3 standard, have an active PFC circuit, and electrolytic capacitors rated at 105°C.

These units will be available soon with a suggested price of USD 99.99 (550 W), USD 109.99 (650 W), and USD 119.99 (750 W).

Cooler Master has just introduced their latest CPU cooler, the Hyper 412 PWM. This model is compatible with Intel (sockets 775, 1156, 1155, 1366, and 2011) and AMD (sockets AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, and FM1) processors, features four 6 mm copper heatpipes in direct contact with the CPU, aluminum fins, and a 120 mm sleeve bearing fan that spins between 600 and 2,000 rpm (9 - 36 dBA noise level).

The German power supply manufacturer, Be Quiet!, has updated their Straight Power series of PSUs with the launch of the E9 line, which comes in eight models: 400 W, 450 W, 480 W, 500 W, 580 W, 600 W, 680 W, and 700 W. All of them feature 80 Plus Gold certification, an active PFC circuitry, a 135 mm fan with fluid dynamic bearing, four +12 V rails (the 400 W model has three), and protections against over voltage (OVP), over current (OCP), under voltage (UVP), over power (OPP), short circuit (SCP), and over temperature (OTP). The 480 W, 580 W and 680 W models have a modular cabling system.

Be Quiet! did not provide pricing information for the US market.

Arctic has just introduced the Accelero Mono Plus, a VGA cooler equipped with five 6 mm copper heatpipes, a copper base, an aluminum heatspreader, and a 120 mm fan that works between 400 and 1,500 rpm. This cooler is compatible with several video cards from AMD and NVIDIA, as you can see here. The Accelero Mono Plus cooler has a suggested price of USD 59.95.

Zalman Announces CNPS12X CPU Cooler

Zalman has officially announced the CNPS12X, a CPU cooler that features no less than three fans. It was first shown to the public at this year's Computex.

The CNPS12X uses three 120 mm fans (with blue LEDs) with speeds varying between 850 and 1,200 rpm and noise level between 22 and 24 dBA. It has six nickel-plated copper heatpipes in direct contact with the CPU, weighs 2.2 lbs (1 kg), and is compatible with Intel (sockets 775/1155/1156/1366/2011) and AMD (sockets AM2(+)/AM3(+)/FM1) processors.

Zalman did not provide information on pricing or availability.

Patriot has updated their Pyro series of SSD drives to include synchronous memory (the original Pyro series uses asynchronous memory), which performs much better when dealing with incompressible data.

The new series is dubbed Pyro SE, and like the original Pyro series, is comprised of 60 GB, 120 GB, and 240 GB models, features a SandForce SF-2281 controller, a SATA-600 interface, support for TRIM, and provides maximum read and write speeds of up to 550 MB/s and 520 MB/s, respectively.
