Memory Patriot has announced the launch of two Viper II DDR2 memory kits that come with the benchmarking software Futuremark 3DMark Vantage. The following kits were announced:
  • PV224G6400LLKB: 4 GB (2 GB x 2) DDR2 dual-channel kit clocked at 800 MHz with 4-4-4-12 timings at 2.1 V.
  • PV224G8500ELKB: 4 GB (2 GB x 2) DDR2 dual-channel kit clocked at 1,066 MHz with 5-5-5-15 timings at 2.1 V.

No word on pricing and availability.

NZXT Announces Beta EVO Mid-Tower Case

NZXT has just announced the launch of their latest mid-tower case, Beta EVO. Built-up in steel and all-black painted (even internally), Beta EVO has four 5 ¼” external bays, five 3 ½” internal bays, seven slots for expansion cards, water-cooling support and tool-less mechanisms for hard drive installation. Beta EVO doesn’t come with any fans, but it support up to six 120-mm fans (one on the rear panel, two on the top panel, one on the front panel e other two on the side panel) and one 140-mm fan on the top panel. The motherboard tray is cut below where the CPU is located, facilitating the replacement of the CPU cooler if you decide to install a CPU cooler that requires the change of the hardware located behind the motherboard. According to NZXT Beta EVO case will reach the market next month costing USD 49.99.

Arctic Cooling has two CPU coolers within Freezer Pro family: Freezer 7 Pro (targeted to Intel processors) and Freezer64 Pro (targeted to AMD processors). Now they decided to launch a new model, called Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2, to provide support for both Intel (sockets LGA 775, 1156 and 1366) and AMD (sockets 939, AM2, AM2+ and AM3) processors. Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 cooler measures 4” x 2.2” x 4.9” or 10.4 x 5.8 x 12.65 (L x W x H), weights 1.14 lb (520 g), has 42 aluminum fins, three copper heatpipes and a 92-mm fluid dynamic bearing fan with speed ranging from 900 rpm to 2,500 rpm (controlled via PWM). Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 cooler is priced at USD 28.90.

Nikon Announces Digital Camera with Built-in Projector

Nikon has announced the launch of the world’s first compact digital camera featuring a built-in projector. Coolpix S1000pj has a resolution of 12.1 Mpixels and 28-mm 5x zoom NIKKOR lens. Thanks to its built-in 10 lumens projector users can see their favorite photos or movie clips on any flat surface at up to 40 inches in size, besides watching them on a 2.7” LCD display. Coolpix S1000pj is available in black and silver and will reach de market next month costing USD 429.95.

Topower Launches 1,200 W Power Supply

Topower has just announced the launch of Tiger 1200 XLR (EP-1200W-P10-T2), a power supply, as its name suggests, able to deliver 1,200 W of power. This monster features a modular cabling system with rounded connectors and cables with EMI protection, provides efficiency above 80%, has active PFC, six +12V rails (click here to learn more about this subject) that can be combined into one rail via a external button, a 120-mm fan with speed controlled according to the unit temperature, and allows the installation of four high-end video cards configured in Quad SLI mode. Tiger 1200 XLR can be found on the market costing around USD 200.

New HTPC Case from SilverStone

SilverStone has announced the launch of its latest HTPC case (Home Theater PCs; designed to be used in computers connected to home theater systems in order to play movies and music), GD03. It is made of zinc-coated steel, but its front panel is made of aluminum. This case features two 5 ¼” external bays, three 3 ½” external bays (two allowing hard drive hot-swapping), five 3 ½” internal bays and seven slots for expansion cards. As for cooling, GD03 comes with two 80-mm fans (2.050 RPM; 21 dBA) and places for two 80-mm optional fans on the front panel and two 80-mm optional fans on the side panel. No word on pricing and availability.

Lian Li has just announced the launch of mid-tower case PC-8N. Featuring four 5 ¼” external bays, one 3 ½” external bay, three 3 ½” internal bays and seven slots for expansion cards, this new case from Lian Lin is made entirely in aluminum, weights 10.22 lbs (4.64 Kg) and measures 8.26” x 17.71” x 19.29” or 210 mm x 450 mm x 490 mm (W x H x D). As for cooling, PC-8N comes with two 120-mm fans (one on the rear panel and one on the front panel) with fan speed of 1,200 rpm. Its side, top and front panels are removable and the slot covers are meshed in order to improve air flow. This case has anti-vibration mechanisms for hard drives and will reach the market by the end of the next month costing USD 109.

Samsung Announces Spinpoint F3 Hard Disk Line-up

Storage Samsung has just announced the launch of its newest hard disk drive line-up target to desktops, Spinpoint F3. Available in 500 GB and 1 TB capacities, new Samsung disks have SATA-300 interface, spin at 7,200 rpm, have a 32 MB buffer (500 GB model has a 16 MB buffer), make use of 500 GB platters and support Native Command Queuing (NCQ) technology. 500 GB model is now available on the market, but 1 TB model will only reach the market next month. No word on pricing.

Western Digital has increased its Scorpio Blue line-up of 2.5” hard disk drives with the launch of two models: WD7500KEVT (750 GB) and WD10TEVT (1 TB). These disks have SATA-300 interface, spin at 5,200 rpm, have an 8 MB buffer, make use of 333 GB platters and support WhisperDrive (to reduce noise level production), ShockGuard (shock-proof mechanisms) and SecurePark (parks the recording heads off the disk surface during spin up, spin down and when the drive is off) technologies. Maingear has launched eX-L 18, which they are bragging to be the world's most Powerful gaming notebook. This portable is equipped with an Intel CPU and you can choose a Core 2 Duo P8700 (2.4 GHz dual-core), a Core 2 Duo T9600 (2.8 GHz quad-core) or Core 2 Extreme X9300 (2.53 GHz quad-core). It can be configured with up to 8 GB DDR3 and has two GeForce GTX 280M video card in SLI mode (you can configure it with only one GeForce GTX 280M video card). As for storage, you can choose up to three 7,200 rpm hard disk (usually laptops come with 5,400 rpm models, which are slower but consume less power) with up to 500 GB capacity or 80 GB SSD and you can even order your laptop with a RAID0 system to increase performance. It comes with an 18.4” display (resolution of 1920x1200), an illuminated keyboard, Bluetooth 2.1, eSATA port, Firewire port, HDMI output, 7.1 audio, Gigabit Ethernet, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n wireless networking, TV out, 12-cell battery, card reader (SD/MS/MSPRO/RS-MMC/MMC) and a built-in 3 Mpixels webcam. The most basic model costs USD 2,999, while the most high-end one costs USD 5,982.62.
