Zalman is displaying during Computex the world’s first CPU cooler with three fans. The CNPS12X will use three 120 mm fans with speeds varying between 780 and 1,200 rpm and noise level between 19 and 25 dBA, will have six nickel-plated copper heatpipes in direct contact with the CPU, and will weigh 2.2 lbs (1 kg). According to Zalman, the CNPS12X will be released around August and should cost less than USD 100.
HQV, or Hollywood Quality Video, is a series of video processors from IDT available in high-end home theater systems. These processors are capable of enhancing 2D video by using noise-reduction filters, de-interlacing (i.e., converting videos in interlaced scanning to progressive scanning), and scaling (converting the original video resolution to a higher resolution). Usually, hardware-based solutions like the IDT HQV processors present better performance and quality than using software-based solutions. For more information on this series of video processors, visit http://www.hqv.com.
Galaxy is the first video card manufacturer to offer a PC video card with a high-end HQV processor. The Galaxy GeForce GTX 550 Ti HQV uses an IDT HQV Vida (VHD1900) video processor, an IT6603 HDMI receiver, a CAT6613 HDMI transmitter, a TMDS261B HDMI switch, and an AT32UC3B1128 microcontroller.
OCZ also showcased a hybrid SSD/hard drive solution, the RevoDrive Hybrid. It is a PCI Express x4 card (which can be installed in PCI Express x16 slots) that comes with flash memory to cache the most frequently accessed data on a 2.5” hard disk drive. The SSD part of the device is managed by four SandForce SF-2200 controllers using a RAID 0 configuration and MLC chips. According to OCZ, this solution can deliver a maximum read transfer rate of 575 MB/s and a maximum write transfer rate of 500 MB/s. It will be available in capacities ranging from 240 GB to 960 GB. The only problem is the price. The MSRP in the US for the 240 GB version will be USD 699.
During this Computex, OCZ showcased three power supplies series that it will be releasing later this year.
The ZS series will be comprised of 550 W, 650 W, and 750 W models with an 80 Plus Bronze certification. OCZ expects to launch this series in July. The ZS power supplies will be manufactured by Highpower.
The ZT series will also be available in 550 W, 650 W, and 750 W versions with an 80 Plus Bronze certification. These power supplies, however, will feature a fully modular cabling system. Units from this series will be manufactured by Great Wall, so they will be completely different internally from the ZS series models. OCZ expects to launch the ZT series in August or September.
The Fatal1ty 1000 W will be available probably in October, and it will carry the 80 Plus Gold certification and feature a modular cabling system. Although OCZ couldn’t disclose what the real manufacturer of this unit is, we could easily see that the prototype was manufactured by High Power. According to OCZ, this unit will have a “special design” for its modular cables, but they couldn’t tell more about this. Let’s wait and see.
During this Computex, Corsair launched two new power supplies, the AX650 and the HX1050.
The AX650 is a fully modular, 80 Plus Gold model with synchronous design, DC-DC regulators for the +5 V and +3.3 V outputs, and single +12 V rail. It is manufactured by Seasonic.
The HX1050 is a model with modular cabling, single +12 V rail, 80 Plus Gold certification, and DC-DC regulators for the +5 V and +3.3 V outputs. It is manufactured by CWT.
ASUS is another company trying to join iPad’s bandwagon, with its Eee Pad. During this Computex, they displayed two models that actually bring something new to the table, the Eee Pad Transformer (TF101) and the Eee Pad Slider (SL101).
The Eee Pad Transformer can be transformed into a netbook computer by the addition of an optional detachable keyboard. It runs Google’s Android 3.1 (Honeycomb) operating system supporting Adobe Flash 10.3 and has a 178-degree viewing angle display.
The Eee Pad Slider, on the other hand, has a “hidden” physical keyboard underneath it, which can be slid out to be used for typing. This model is based on NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 processor, has a 1280x800 display, and USB, mini HDMI, and MicroSD ports.
NVIDIA has expanded their mobile GPU offering with the launch of the GeForce GTX 560M and GT 520MX models.
The GeForce GTX 560M works internally at 775 MHz, accesses its GDDR5 memory (1.5 GB or 3 GB) at 5 GHz through an “up to” 192-bit interface, and features 192 processors running at 1,550 MHz. This chip supports DirectX 11, CUDA, PhysX, Optimus, 3D Vision, and 2-way SLI technologies.
The GeForce GT 520MX works internally at 900 MHz, accesses its DDR3 memory (512 MB or 1 GB) at 1,800 MHz through a 64-bit interface, and features 48 processors running at 1,800 MHz. This chip supports DirectX 11, CUDA, PhysX, and Optimus technologies.
NVIDIA has introduced wired (USB cable) 3D Vision glasses, which will be available in June for USD 99. It provides the same features and quality as the 3D Vision wireless glasses, which are priced at USD 149.
NVIDIA 3D Vision kit is a solution for users to enjoy the tridimensional experience of 3D games and movies from their desktop computer. This kit is comprised of 3D glasses and several software.
During this Computex, Antec will be showing a brand-new power supply series especially designed for gamers and enthusiasts, the High Current Gamer Plus. It can be distinguished from the original High Current Gamer series by having a modular cabling system, a 135 mm fluid dynamic bearing fan (the fan used on the High Current Gamer units is a dual ball bearing model), and a DC-DC design.
The High Current Gamer Plus power supplies will be compatible with the ATX12V v2.32 and EPS12V v2.92 standards, will have an active PFC circuit, four +12 V rails, 80 Plus Bronze certification, Japanese capacitors, and protections against over current (OCP), over voltage (OVP), short-circuit (SCP), over power (OPP), and over temperature (OTP) protections.
This new power supply series from Antec will be available in August, in 550 W, 650 W, and 750 W models.
Today, Artic announced the Freezer 13 Limited Edition CPU cooler, which is distinguishable from the original Freezer 13 by having a titanium black color aluminum fins and metallic gray fan. The other specs are the same, including a 92 mm fan (600 – 2,000 rpm), a maximum air flow of 36.4 cfm, and compatibility with Intel (sockets 1366, 1156, 1155, 775) and AMD (sockets AM3, AM2+, AM2, 939, 754).
