Intel Launches CPU Replacement Plan for Overclockers
Author: Cássio Lima
Date: January 19, 2012 - 8:23 AM PST |
Category: CPU
More Info: http://click.intel.com/tuningplan/
Overclocking is a technique that enables a given hardware part to operate at a clock frequency above its default frequency, thus increasing its performance. This technique is not recommended by the manufacturers and voids the product’s warranty. Well, the good news for enthusiasts who like to overclock their processors is that Intel has launched a service called the “Performance Tuning Protection Plan.” This plan will provide certain out-of-warranty service offerings in the event of damage caused by overclocking or over-voltaging by the user. By purchasing this plan and meeting the plan’s criteria, the user can receive a one-time replacement processor if the user’s over-voltaging or overclocking causes the original processor to fail. This plan in no way expands, changes or extends the original three year standard warranty and is simply a plan the user may want to purchase for overclocking or over-voltaging. The Performance Tuning Protection Plan covers the following chips: - Core i5-2500K: USD 20 (Plan price)
- Core i7-2600K: USD 25
- Core i7-2700K: USD 25
- Core i7-3930K: USD 35
- Core i7-3960X: USD 35

More Info: http://www.scythe-eu.com/en/products/pc-accessory/Kaze-Master-Pro-Ace....
Japanese cooling expert Scythe has expanded its product portfolio with the launch of the Kaze Master Pro Ace fan controller. The built-in technology is based on the already announced Kaze Master Pro 5.25 fan controller, which now comes with an aluminum front panel design. The new Kaze Master Pro Ace fan controller allows users to adjust the fan speeds of up to six fans separately as well as monitoring up to eight temperature sensors. Adjustments of fan speeds are made using the six potentiometers located in the lower part of the aluminum front panel. By using the other two potentiometers located on the sides, it is possible to choose two of the six channels to be displayed on the built-in VF-Display (Vacuum Fluorescent Display). The display informs the user about fan rotation and temperature, as well as the number of the chosen fans. Each fan channel can be separately regulated in a voltage regulation range between 3.7 V and 12 V. Users are able to monitor the actual fan speed on the VF-Display in 30 rpm steps up to the maximum fan speed of 9,990 rpm. Temperature values can be displayed both in degrees Celsius or degrees Fahrenheit. Kaze Master Pro Ace is able to measure temperatures in the ranges of 0 °C to 100 °C or 32 °F to 199.9 °F. The Kaze Master Pro Ace is equipped with a small speaker used for warning the user in case an error is detected by the system. Scythe Kaze Master Pro Ace fan controller (Model No. KM04-BK) is available only in black. Information on pricing was not revealed. click to enlarge

CES 2012: Roccat Intros Isku Illuminated Gaming Keyboard
Author: Gabriel Torres
Date: January 18, 2012 - 3:14 PM PST |
Category: Input
More Info: http://www.roccat.org/Products/Gaming-Keyboards/ROCCAT-Isku/#crb_2
The German manufacturer, Roccat, is finally officially entering the US market next month. One of their most anticipated products is the Isku, an illuminated keyboard (with six different light levels) featuring 123 keys and support for 36 macros. Each macro can store up to 500 actions. In order to save space on the keyboard, some of the macros can be stored on regular keys of the product. It has a handy “rec” button for you to record each macro, and the keyboard literally speaks, telling you how to program the macros. You can store up to five macro profiles. The driver recognizes which game you are launching and loads the profile you created for that particular game, so you won’t need to reprogram all macros you had already created, nor will you need to manually load them from the hard drive. The Isku keyboard recognizes the Kone[+] from the same manufacturer, and you are able to command mouse functions such as macros through the keyboard. This keyboard has a polling rate of 1 kHz, a response time of 1 ms, and USB interface. It will arrive on the market next month costing around USD 90. click to enlarge
