Taiwanese Kingmax has released a new line of ”multi-function“ microSD cards. Each package from the series includes two adapters that make the device compatible with standard SD and Sony’s PRO Duo standards. Kingmax’s microSD cards are currently available in capacities of up to 512 MB with maximum data transfer speed of 12.5 MB/s.

Sparkle has released two AGP 8x VGA cards based on Nvidia’s GeForce 7600 GS. The SP-AG76SDH Ultra2 256 MB and 512 MB are both clocked at standard 400 MHz. Other specs include DDR2 memory at 800 MHz, 12 pixel pipelines, five vertex shaders engines and 128-bit interface. The Windows Vista-ready cards are equipped with VGA, DVI-I and HDTV-Out connectors.

OCZ Technology has added a DDR2-900 model to its Special Ops memory series. These gamer-aimed devices are equipped with XTC honeycomb heatspreaders featuring a camouflage motif. The DDR2 PC2-7200 Special Ops has 5-5-5-15 latencies and operate at 2.1 volts. It is available in 512 MB or 1 GB modules and 1 GB or 2 GB dual channel kits.

MSI has launched its first GeForce 7600 GS video card equipped with AGP 8x interface. The NX7600GS-TD256 is clocked at standard 400 MHz, packs 256 MB of DDR2 memory at 800 MHz and includes VGA, DVI-I and HDTV-Out connectors. The GeForce 7600 GS GPU has 12 pixel pipelines, five vertex shaders engines and 128-bit interface.

ASUS Announces Enthusiast ROG Series

ASUS has announced its new Republic of Gamers (ROG) enthusiast motherboard series. The first model is an nForce 590 SLI (AM2) dubbed Crosshair. Special features include LCD Poster, a diagnostic display which uses full text to describe errors, instead of an alphanumeric code. The mobo also brings 8-phase polymer aluminum electrolyte capacitors, back I/O panel lighting and SupremeFX audio capable of 24-bit/192 KHz quality on eight channels. It supports DDR2-800 memory, Nvidia’s SLI scheme (with full x16 speed), eight Serial ATA 3 Gb/s ports and dual Gigabit LAN. The Crosshair is bundled with 3DMark06 Advanced Edition.

Seagate this week introduced a new Maxtor Shared Storage II solution with 1 TB capacity for small office and home network storage. The device packs two 500 GB hard drives spinning at 7,200 rpm with 16 MB buffers. Features include Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, dual USB ports and RAID 1 support for mirroring data from one drive to the other. Suggested retail price is USD 900.

Sony Ships 4 GB Memory Stick PRO Duo

Sony this week announced a new 4 GB model as part of its Memory Stick PRO Duo lineup. The company also introduced a revamped packaging design with colour coding for easier identification of different series. Additionally, products now come with a standard Memory Stick adaptor. The PRO Duo format promises access speeds of up to 80 Mbps and write speed of 15 Mbps. Sony is expected to release an 8 GB version in the coming months.

OCZ Launches Tempest CPU Cooler

OCZ has officially released its anticipated Tempest CPU Cooler. The device features a pure copper base plate and quad copper heat pipes to transfer the heat into the aluminum fin array. The cooler, aimed at AMD 939/940/AM2 and Intel 775/478 processors, uses a 92 mm fan rotating at 2,500 rpm (cfm is 44.0) equipped with blue leds.

Freescale today announced commercial availability of the industry’s first Magnetoresistive Random Access Memory (MRAM). The non-volatile standard is said to provide read and writing speeds of up to 200 MB/s. Other advantages over conventional flash memory include lower power consumption and resistance to degradation. Freescale’s 4 Mb device, dubbed MR2A16A, is suitable for networking, security, data storage, gaming and printing applications.

Hong Kong-based Galaxy has announced its first Masterpiece series VGA card sporting two GeForce 7600 GT GPUs. The product packs a total of 512 MB of GDDR3 (256 MB per core) and clocks at 560 MHz (core) and 1.4 GHz (memory) with 128-bit interface. Each graphics chip has 12 pixel pipelines. The card, which requires Nvidia SLI chipsets, should hit retail in August.

Samsung Launches NV Digital Cameras

Samsung this week launched a series of digital cameras (NV) with innovative design and new user interface. The flagship model, the NV7 OPS, measures 4.2x2.5x0.8 inches, with 7.2 megapixels and 7x optical zoom. The camera uses Optical Picture Stabilization (OPS) and Advanced Shake Reduction (ASR) to offer better image quality. The NV7 OPS also provides MPEG-4 VGA (640x480) 30 fps video recording. Suggested retail price is USD 450.

Sony Ships Micro Vault Tiny USB Drive

Sony has released the Micro Vault Tiny USB drive series with devices measuring 1.45x3x2.4 mm (0,57x1,18x0,94 inch) and weighing no more than 1.5 g. The product is available in a variety of colors and capacities ranging from 256 MB to 2 GB. A software tool called Virtual Expander is said to boost storage approximately three times by automatically compressing and decompressing data. The ultra-small USB drive also comes with a rubber carrying case equipped with a clip and strap for transport.
