IOGEAR launched a mouse coated with a titanium dioxide and silver nano-particle that promises to prevent bacteria, viruses, fungi and algae from surviving and living on the mouse. Ok about that germ-free feature, but someone knows how fungi and algae can grow in a mouse?

DynaPlay Technology from Seagate integrates HDDs into DVRs, allowing power, video streaming performance, acoustics and reliability. With more demand for data storage in mobile phones, manufacturers of memory cards have increase the capacity and speed of their products. KINGMAX has released a 1 GB MicroSD card, the first in the world to use SLC (single level cell) memory. This means that its read-write speeds beat all its MLC competitors. The read speed is up to 10.5 MB/s and the write speed is up to 8.9 MB/s. The second fastest 1 GB MicroSD on the market is the MLC Sandisk model with a 8.8 MB/s for read speed and 5.0 MB/s for write speed, according to KINGMAX test lab.

Nokia is introducing new Bluetooth headsets, that are expected to be available commercially during autumn 2006. The Bluetooth Headset BH-801, weighing only 11 g, provides up to six hours of talk time and up to 160 hours on standby.
The Bluetooth Headset BH-302 has an adjustable earloop and multifunction button which allows you to control call functions. It has up to 10 hours of talk time or up to 195 hours on standby.
The Bluetooth Headset BH-207 is available in black with chrome details, and handles a multifunction button for managing voice functions. Talk for up to seven and a half hours and, on standby, for up to 140 hours.

Sony Electronics unveils its new line of DVD and CD burners. The new 830 series of multi-format DVD burners support all of the industry's leading recording formats. Sony says that its drives are the fastest 18X DVD±R recording speed, delivering a full 4.7 GB media in about five minutes. The drives support 8X DVD±R, 4X DVD±R DL, 8X DVD+RW, 6X DVD-RW and 24X CD-R/RW.
The internal DRU-830A drive comes with an ATAPI interface for easy installation inside a PC and is shipping now for about $70 after a $20 mail-in rebate.
The external DRX-830U burner has a vertical design and offers connectivity with hi-speed USB (USB 2.0) digital interface. It will be available in October for around $100 after a $30 mail-in rebate.
The slim external DRX-S50U burner is perfect for notebook users. It also will be available in October for about $130. All of them come with Nero 7 software suite.
The external DRX-830UL-T drive is designed for dual Macintosh and Windows platform support. It also includes Roxio Toast 6 Lite software in the box. It is expected to ship in December for about $120 after a $30 mail-in rebate.

Toshiba is recalling 340,000 notebook batteries. The recall affects Satellite and Dynabook models made between March and May 2006. Sony manufactured the batteries, but this time there's no risk of them to explode. The batteries just stop charging or discharge too fast. Most of the units are in the States (around 100,000 units), 45,000 are in Japan and the rest of them are in other countries.

Oki Electric Industry unveils the world's smallest MP3 playback chip. The ML2011 carries a MP3 decoder, a 650mw amplifier in a 3.6mm x 4.2mm footprint. It can be used in digital audio players and mobile phones equipped with music playback functions. Oki plans to ramp up full scale production by December.
