SiS has lauched their first integrated PCI Express solution for the Athlon 64 platform, the SiS 761GX. "Integrated" means "integrated video" or "on-board video", i.e. the chipset has a 3D video controller embedded (Mirage 1 core in this particular chipset). This new chipset uses the new SiS 966 south bridge, and the specs of this new chipset include one PCI Express x16 slot, Gigabit Ethernet, four Serial ATA ports with RAID support (RAID0, RAID1, RAID0+1 and JBOD), eight USB 2.0 ports and high definition audio.

Cooler Master has just released its new hard disk drive cooling system, CoolDrive Lite, also known as LHD-V07. You just insert your hard drive into this device and install it normally in any 5.25" bay from your computer case. Inside the device you will find a fan that will refrigerate your hard drive. Cool Drive Lite is made of aluminium, uses a 44 mm fan rotating at 3,000 rpm with 23 dBA noise level and measures 150 mm x 43 mm x 203 mm (5.90 in x 1.69 in x 7.99 in).

Shuttle has announced today its new XPC compact PC based on the Radeon X200 Xpress chipset from ATI. Called ST20G5, this new XPC uses socket 939 Athlon 64 processors and has Gigabit Ethernet controller, two Firewire ports, 8-channel audio and Serial ATA ports. It comes with a 240 W power supply and the same silent cooling system used by other XPCs.

Tyan has just released its Tomcat K7M (S2498), a highly integrated motherboard, based on the new Geode NX CPU from AMD. Featuring the VIA KN400A chipset and using the FlexATX form factor, it has two PCI slots, two DDR memory sockets (up to 2 GB DDR333), two serial ATA ports, two ATA-133 ports, four USB 2.0 ports, on-board audio and on-board LAN, it is available in two versions: S2498AGN, with the listed features, and S2498AGNN, with Gigabit Ethernet. It seems to be a good solution for small embedded systems.

SiS has just released their new chipset for servers and workstations based on the Athlon 64 FX processor. Based on the new PCI Express bus, it uses the SiS 965 chip as south bridge, which supports four Serial ATA ports with RAID0, RAID1, RAID0+1 and JBOD capabilities, eight USB 2.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet and two ATA-133 ports.

Thermaltake has just released their new case series, called Armor. Available in two colors, black and silver, it has a side panel window and can hold both ATX and BTX motherboards. One of the main features of this new series is the ability to use standard cooling, water cooling or even passive cooling without having to change anything in the case, like drilling holes. The front panel buttons are relocatable and the slots for peripheral boards don't use screws, making it very easy to install new boards in your computer. Tul has just released its PowerColor Radeon X300 SE video card using the HyperMemory technology, that uses part of the system RAM memory as video memory. The X300 SE is the simplest (and cheapest) PCI Express chip from ATI, accessing memory using only 64 bits. The HyperMemory model has only 32 MB of video memory, but it "steals" the rest (96 MB) from the PC main RAM the same way happens with on-board video motherboards. This chip runs at 325 MHz and its target to entry level PCs.

OCZ Technology has just released a new DDR600 memory module series. Called PC-4800 EL Platinum Series, it uses 2.5-4-4-10 timings and can be found in 512 MB version or dual channel pack. It incorporates OCZ's EVP (Extended Voltage Protection) and ULN2 (Ultra Low Noise) technologies. With the first the manufacturer guarantees that you will be able to run your memory at 3.0 V without burning it. The second refers to the printed circuit board (PCB) technology, which is optimized to lower the electrical noise, hence giving the module a better stability.

Dutch company Point of View will lauch during CeBit next week its new heatsink called Ice Chameleon. Fully made of copper, it will be added to the PCI Express GeForce 6600 and GeForce 6800 series from this company. Accordingly to the manufacturer, this heatsink has low noise level because it runs at 5 V instead of 12 V, so the fan rotates at a lower speed. Also, the copper has a better thermal dissipation then alloy and the manufacturer promises that the graphic chip can run up to 10 degrees cooler using its new heatsink. Models with the new heatsink will be available starting March 17th.

ATI has officially launched Radeon X800 XL and X850 XT GPUs with AGP 8x interface aimed at gamers looking to upgrade their systems without having to adopt a new platform. The first uses a PCI Express to AGP bridge chip while the others are native AGP. The specifications are basically the same as those of the PCI-E versions. The X800 XL is clocked at 400 MHz and features 16 pixel pipelines, 256-bit interface and 256 MB of GDDR3 memory cloked at 1.1 GHz. The X850 XT GPUs are clocked at 520/540 MHz with GDDR3 memory at 1.12/1.18 GHz.

Fujitsu has announced a mobile hard disk drive providing 120 GB of storage capacity. The 2.5-inch MHV2120AT reaches the new milestone thanks to an increased areal density of 104 Gb per square inch. Improvements also allow the drive head to be loaded and unloaded from the disk 600,000 times. The hard drive is expected to ship during the next quarter.
