Zalman has officially launched ZM500-RS power supply. It is a 500 W model, compliant with the ATX12V v2.3 specs, efficiency up to 87%, resonant switching circuit design, which is supposed to reduce internal heat generation, thus providing higher durability to the unit, two +12 V rails (click here to learn more about this subject), a 120-mm fan, active PFC and protections against overvoltage (OVP), undervoltage (UVP), overcurrent (OCP), over temperature (OTP) and short-circuit (SCP). No word on pricing and availability.

Sparkle Launches GeForce GTX 285 Plus

Sparkle has announced the launch of GeForce GTX 285 Plus, a factory-overclocked video card based on nVidia GeForce GTX 285 GPU that comes with an Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme cooler (107 aluminum fins, five copper heatpipes and three 92-mm fans with speed ranging from 1,000 rpm to 2,000 rpm). This card works internally at 666 MHz (2.78% above default clock of 648 MHz), accesses its 1 GB GDDR3 at 2,520 MHz (5% above default clock of 2,400 MHz DDR) thru a 512-bit interface, its 240 shader units run at 1,512 MHz (2.44% above default clock of 1,476 MHz) and it has two DVI connectors. No word on pricing and availability.

MSI Debuts ''Green'' GeForce 9800 GT Video Cards

MSI has announced the launch of its “Green” GeForce 9800 GT video card series that according to the manufacturer consumes 25% less power than the original GeForce 9800 GT. Compared to the standard GeForce 9800 GT, the “Green” version from MSI works internally with a lower clock rate (550 MHz vs. 600 MHz on original version) and accesses its 512 MB (N9800GT-MD512 model) or 1 GB (N9800GT-MD1G model) GDDR3 at 1,800 MHz DDR (900 MHz real – the same clock used by original GeForce 9800 GT) thru a 256-bit interface. MSI GeForce 9800 GT “Green” also has a VGA, Dual-DVI and HDMI connectors, one tantalum solid capacitor (the best kind of capacitor), aluminum solid caps and solid state chokes. No word on pricing and availability.

Enermax Launches ECO80+ PSU Series

Enermax has just unveiled its newest PSU series, called ECO80+. Available in 350 W, 400 W, 500 W and 620 W models, units from this new series feature active PFC, efficiency up to 86%, two +12 V rails (click here to learn more about this subject), a 120-mm fan with speed between 500 rpm and 2,000 rpm according to PSU’s internal temperature, and protections against overvoltage (OVP), overload (OPP), overcurrent (OCP), over temperature (OTP) and short-circuit (SCP). The 400 W, 400 W and 620 ECO80+ units will reach the market next month costing USD 79, USD 99 and USD 119, respectively. No word on the 300 W model.

Patriot Launches Gaming Memory Series

Patriot has announced the launch of its newest memory series targeted to gamers. Named G, modules from this series are available in 4 GB and 6 GB kits using DDR3 or DDR2 technologies. No word on pricing and availability.

ASUS Unveils ROG OC Station Overclocking Controller

ASUS has just presented an external overclocking controller called ROG OC Station specially designed to be used with ASUS ROG (Republic of Gamers) motherboard line-up. This device takes up two 5 ¼” bays on the computer case, has a 3” LCD display, its frontal panel can be tilted upwards up to 30° and it allows the user to change and monitor several overclocking options (like processor voltage and clock, fan speed, temperature etc) on-the-fly without entering the BIOS Setup. ROG OC Station also features a photo slideshow function. No word on pricing.

Transcend Presents USB Flash Memory with Antivirus Program

In cooperation with Trend Micro, Transcend has devised a USB flash memory that comes with a preloaded antivirus program. Called JetFlash V15, this new USB memory is able to scan all the files stored on it and alert the user of any malicious programs, like viruses, spyware etc. The only drawback is that the antivirus is a 90-day trial program and people interested to keep this functionality will have to pay for it after this period. JetFlash V15 is available in 4 GB and 8 GB capacities. There’s no word on pricing and availability.

ASUS has officially launched ROG Crosshair III Formula, a socket AM3 motherboard based on AMD 790FX chipset. This board supports AMD Phenom II, Athlon X4, Athlon X3 e Athlon X2 processors, has four DDR3-1600/1333/1066 MHz (16 GB max.) sockets, two PCI Express x16, one PCI Express x1 slot, one PCI slot, five SATA-300 ports, one eSATA port, one ATA-133 port, Gigabit Ethernet, 8-channel audio (SupremeFX X-Fi PCI Express x1 sound card) and a 10-phase voltage regulator circuit. ROG Crosshair III Formula comes with several overclocking options that can be adjusted on-the-fly through a joystick-like control without entering the BIOS Setup. This board also has a neat feature called MemOK! that works as following: in the event of a boot failure after installing new RAM, the user can press an easily accessible button on the motherboard and MemOK! will automatically load the failsafe settings needed to ensure a successful system boot. ASUS didn’t disclose the price of this motherboard.

Thermaltake Unveils Element T Mid-tower Case

Thermaltake has just increased its Element line-up with the launch of Element T mid-tower case (VK90001N2Z). Equipped with three 5 ¼” external bays, one 3 ½” external bay, six 3 ½” internal bays and one 2 ½” internal bay, this case targeted to gamers has seven slots for expansion cards and supports a watercooling solution. As for cooling, Element T features a 120-mm fan (1,400 rpm; 17 dBA) on the rear panel, a 200-mm fan (800 rpm; 14 dBA) on the top panel and places to install a 120- or 230-mm fan on the side panel and one 120-mm, 140-mm or 200-mm fan on the frontal panel. This case also has two USB ports, a security lock for keyboard and mouse and tool-less mechanisms for optical and hard drive and daughter cards installation. No word on pricing and availability.
