NEC has announced the launch of a gigantic 43” monitor with a curved display. Called CRV43, this monitor has a native resolution of 2880x900, a contrast ratio of 10.000:1, a response time of 0.02 ms, brightness of 200 cd/m², DVI-D and HDMI connectors and USB ports. NEC CRV43 will reach the market next month costing USD 7,999.

Patriot Debuts Viper II Memory Series

Patriot has just announced its Viper II memory series. Available in 6 GB (3 x 2 GB) triple-channel kits and in 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) dual-channel kits, Viper II modules feature an aluminum heatspreader and support XMP (Extreme Memory Profiles) technology, which allows memory modules to negotiate with the motherboard chipset the best latencies and highest clock rate they can work in order to provide the highest possible performance. No word on pricing.

  • PV234G1600LLK: 4 GB DDR3 dual-channel kit clock at 1,600 MHz with 7-7-7-20 timings at 1.9 V.
  • PV234G1800LLK: 4 GB DDR3 dual-channel kit clock at 1,800 MHz with 8-8-8-24 timings at 1.9 V.
  • PV236G1800LLK: 6 GB DDR3 triple-channel kit clock at 1,800 MHz with 8-8-8-24 timings at 1.65 V.
  • PV236G1866LLK: 6 GB DDR3 triple-channel kit clock at 1,866 MHz with 7-8-8-24 timings at 1.65 V.

Corsair Launches Hydro H50 Liquid Cooling System

In partnership with Asetek, Corsair has launched Hydro H50 (CWCH50), a liquid cooling system compatible with Intel (sockets 775/1366) and AMD (sockets AM2/AM3) processors. This cooler comes pre-assembled and has only two components: a copper processor block and a radiator, which is equipped with a 120-mm fan. The pump was integrated to the processor block. Hydro H50 will reach the market later this month costing USD 79.

AMD Rolls Out Athlon II X2 250 and Phenom II X2 550 BE

CPU AMD has launched two 45-nm dual-core processors, Athlon II X2 250 and Phenom II X2 550 BE. Athlon II X2 250 works internally at 3 GHz, has an integrated DDR3 memory controller, 2 MB L2 cache, TDP of 65 W and is priced at USD 87 (1000-unit tray). Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition works internally at 3.1 GHz, has na integrated DDR3 memory controller, 1 MB L2 cache, 6 MB L3 cache and TDP of 80 W. By being a “Black Edition” model, this new processor has its clock multiplier unlocked and thus targeted to overclockers. Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition is priced at USD 102 (at 1000-units).

ASUS has officially launched EeePC T91, its first netbook within EeePC family to feature a touch-screen LCD display with Tablet PC capability (i.e. you can rotate the screen and write as if you were making notes on a notebook). T91 is equipped with a Atom Z520 processor (internal clock of 1.33 GHz, external clock of 533 MHz and 512 MB L2 cache), Intel US15W chipset, 8.9” LCD display, Fast Ethernet, Wireless 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, 1 GB DDR2, a 16 GB SSD (an optional 30 GB hard disk is available), a VGA connector, two USB 2.0 ports, 3-in-1 card reader (MMC, SD, SDHC), built-in webcam and optional GPS, TV Tuner, 3G cards. EeePC T91 measures 8.85” x 6.45” x 1.11” or 22.5 cm x 16.4 cm x 2.84 cm (W x D x H), weights 2.11 lbs (960 g) and is available in black or white. No word on pricing.

Intel has increased its notebook product line-up with the launch of four processors and one chipset. See them bellow:

  • Core 2 Quad T9900: Internal clock of 3.06 GHz, external clock of 1,066 MHz, 6 MB L2 cache, TDP of 35 W and priced at USD 530 (1000-unit tray).
  • Core 2 Quad P9700: Internal clock of 2.8 GHz, external clock of 1,066 MHz, 6 MB L2 cache, TDP of 25 W and priced at USD 348 (1000-unit tray).
  • Core 2 Quad P8800: Internal clock of 2.66 GHz, external clock of 1,066 MHz, 3 MB L2 cache and priced at USD 241 (1000-unit tray).

Corsair Debuts Obsidian 800D Case

Corsair has entered into the PC case market with the launched of Obsidian 800D (CC800DW). Built-up in brushed aluminum, this full-tower case features five 5 ¼” external bays, six 3 ½” internal bays (four of them using hot-swap connectors), seven slots for expansion cards, three 140-mm fans, support for up to 120-mm optional fans, four USB ports, one FireWire port, audio connectors, acrylic side window, a cut-out section in the motherboard tray for easy CPU cooler installation and screwless mechanism of hard drive installation. Obsidian 800D will reach the market next month priced at USD 229.

AMD Launches “Istanbul” Opteron Processor

AMD has officially launched its six-core Opteron processor codename “Istanbul”. This new processor is manufactured under 45-nm process technology, is available in 2.2 GHz, 2.4 GHz and 2.6 GHz clock configurations, has 6 MB L3 cache, 3 MB L2 cache (512 KB per core), an integrated DDR2 memory controller, is compatible with socket F platform, has a TDP of 75 W, HyperTransport 3.0 bus and allows SMP with up to 8 processors. Below you can see the “Istanbul” Opteron models launched.

New Thermaltake Notebook Coolers

Thermaltake has announced its newest notebook cooler series called Massive23. Comprised with two models Massive23 CS and ST, these coolers are compatible with laptops with up to 17” displays, have a 230-mm fan with speed ranging from 200 rpm to 600 rpm (maximum air flow of 57 CFM; noise level of 17 dBA) and measure 14.17” x 12.55”x 20.47” or 36 cm x 31.9 cm x 52 cm (L x W x H). Massive23 CS model is made of aluminum, weights 3.54 lbs (1.61 Kg), its fan is equipped with colorful LEDs and it can be powered via AC outlet. Massive23 ST, on the other hand, is made of plastic, weights 1.96 lb (890 g), its fan is equipped with a blue LEDs and it can be powered via USB port. Thermaltake has not provided the coolers' pricing.

Patriot Launches HDD/SSD Enclosures

Case Patriot has launched two HDD/SSD enclosures, Convoy and Convoy XL. Convoy is a 3.5” internal device, taking one of the 3 ½” internal bays on the computer case, can hold two 2.5” HDD/SSD drives and has SATA-300 and USB interfaces. Convoy XL, on the other hand, is an external device, can house two 2.5” HDD/SSD drives, has USB and eSATA interfaces and comes with a built-in RAID controller (RAID 0, 1). No word on pricing and availability.

Corsair has just expanded their HX power supply line-up with the release of two new models, 750 W (HX750W) and 850 W (HX850W). These new models are conform with the ATX12V 2.3 and EPS12V 2.91 specs, have active PFC, modular cabling system, efficiency up to 90%, single +12 V rail (click here to learn more about this subject), a 140-mm fan with speed controlled according to the PSU’s internal temperature, and protections against overvoltage (OVP), under voltage (UVP), overload (OPP), overcurrent (OCP) and short-circuit (SCP).
