AMD has announced the addition of Phenom triple-core processor to its desktop roadmap, expected to be launched in Q1 2008. The new triple-core Phenom processors (code-name Toliman) will be based on K10 architecture and will feature HyperTransport 3.0, 512 KB of L2 cache per core and a shared L3 cache (value not disclaimed). It seems that triple-core Phenom processors are quad-core models with one disabled core.

Super Talent has just launched new DDR3 memory modules that can operate with high clock rates and aggressive timings. Two new modules were launched: W1800UX2GP (DDR3-1800 PC3-14400), which works at 1,800 MHz with CL7 7-7-21 timings at 2.0 V, and W1600UX2GP (DDR3-1600 PC3-12800), which works at 1,600 MHz with CL7 6-6-18 at 1.8 V. Seagate announced a new hard drives series specifically designed for digital video surveillance systems. The SV35 series, which have a top capacity of 1 TB, stores up to 289 continuous days (640x480 @ 10 fps) or up to 32 continuous days (720x480 @ 30 fps). The SV35 series hard drives have a disk speed of 7,200 rpm and ATA/100 or SATA-300 interface.

OCZ announced its first memory modules featuring XMP (Extreme Memory Profile) technology allowing them to work beyond their official specifications and that are optimized for Intel's upcoming X38 chipset. XMP technology allows memory modules to negotiate with the motherboard chipset the best latencies and highest clock rate they can work in order to provide the highest possible performance. This technology is only supported by motherboards based on Intel's upcoming X38 chipset. The first products from OCZ to support XMP technology are OCZ DDR3 PC3-12800 Intel XMP Ready Titanium Edition modules, which are able to run at 1,600 MHz with 8-8-8 or 7-6-6 timings and are available in 1 GB and 2 GB kits.

AMD has just launched its first Opteron processor models based on the new K10 architecture. Nine models were launched with clock speeds ranging from 1.7 GHz to 2.0 GHz. All these new models are based on “Barcelona” core, have quad-core technology, 65 nm manufacturing process, 512 KB L2 memory cache per core, 2 MB L3 memory cache, HyperTransport 1.x and socket 1207 (socket F) platform. Intel launched a new Xeon series allowing symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) up to 32 CPUs. The new Xeon 7300 series (a.k.a Tigerton) is based on the Core microarchitecture and carrying quad-core technology. Six new Xeon processors were launched inside the 7300 series, as you can see on the table below. SanDisk has launched the SanDisk Multi Card ExpressCard Adapter for notebooks. This new adapter fits into the ExpressCard slot and accepts six different card formats: SD, SDHC, MultiMediaCard, MMCplus, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick PRO Duo and Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo.
