Crucial Launches m4 mSATA SSD Drives

The newly announced Crucial’s m4 drives are compatible with this standard and are available in 32 GB (USD 50.99), 64 GB (USD 71.99), 128 GB (USD 117.99), and 256 GB (USD 225.99) capacities with a SATA-600 interface. Speeds vary according to the model: 500 MB/s (read) and 175 MB/s (write) for the 32 GB model, 500 MB/s (read) and 95 MB/s (write) for the 64 GB model, 500 MB/s (read) and 175 MB/s (write) for the 128 GB model, and 500 MB/s (read) and 260 MB/s (write) for the 256 GB model. The m4 mSATA drives were designed to work in ultrathin, high-performance SSD-based systems and can also act as a cache drive in dual drive systems. SSD caching systems have both a hard disk drive and a low-capacity SSD. These systems use software to automatically identify the most frequently used files and programs, and then access those files from the SSD, providing greater performance than a hard disk drive, but at a lower price point than a stand-alone SSD.
