Wake-Up On Ring

This feature allows the computer to be turned on from a command issued through the phone line. This allows you to turn on and off computers located miles away from you.

In order to work, the modem and the motherboard have to support this feature. The modem should be connected to the motherboard using a small two-wire cable installed on a connector called ”Wake-Up On Ring“ or similar. Also, you need to install a program to enable remote access to the computer – like Windows’ Dial Up Server. Obviously to remotely access the computer a login and a password will be required.
