AMD implementation of the SIMD concept and introduced on their K6 processor. All processors from AMD since K6 have this technology.

3DNow is a 21 instruction set targeted increase the performance of 3D applications, audio and videocompressing, etc.

The CPU has to have this instruction set and the software must be compiled (i.e. written for) to use these new instructions in order to have the performance gains proposed.
