Also known as DSS (Direct Satellite System), is used by satellite TV operators (e.g. Sky and DirecTV). DTH tecnology is unidirectional, allowing you only to receive data (download), needing a conventional phone line for transmitting data (upload). This technology has a maximum transfer rate of 400 Kbps and needs a specific hardware. It is expensive and not very convenient compared to other technologies, since if it rains strongly enough the satellite can be covered, blocking data transmission.
