DTH is a satellite data transmission standard.
Also known as DSS (Direct Satellite System), is used by satellite TV operators (e.g. Sky and DirecTV).
DTH tecnology is unidirectional, allowing you only to receive data (download), needing a conventional phone line for transmitting data (upload). This technology has a maximum transfer rate of 400 Kbps and needs a specific hardware.
It is expensive and not very convenient compared to other technologies, since if it rains strongly enough the satellite can be covered, blocking data transmission. It can need antenna alignments from time to time, which only specialized technicians can do.
