Gigahertz

1 gigahertz equals to 1 billion cycles per second.

A 1 GHz signal means that it has 1 billion cycles in one second.

The duration of each cycle is called period and it is the inverse of the signal frequency. In a 1 GHz signal, each cycle lasts 1 nanosecond (1 nanosecond equals to 0.000,000,001 second).
