Non-Maskable Interruption
Kind of hardware interrupt that cannot be disabled. While IRQ interruptions can be programmed to be ignored, NMI interruption is never ignored. It is usually used to indicate a severe system error, like hardware malfunction (for example, a memory parity error generates this kind of interruption).
