Advanced Power Management

This is an old power management standard created by Intel to turn off certain peripherals if they went idle for a certain amount of time. Surpassed by ACPI, it is less efficient than this new standard.

To use APM your motherboard need to have a compatible BIOS which will enable a controlling driver that makes the interface between the operating system and the computer hardware.
