SkyMall’s Most Bizarre Products – Part 9
Author: Gabriel TorresDate: November 19, 2010 - 12:36 PM PST

As you know, the most bizarre invention that I’ve seen was a real-sized Abominable Snowman statue for you to put in your yard. The company that sells this incredible product, Design Toscano, is certain to figure in all of my “most bizarre products” selections. There isn’t an issue of SkyMall that they don’t release a new ridiculous piece of junk. But they easily had the Abominable Snowman beaten when they launched a statue of a zombie coming out of the earth for you to put in your yard. But before showing you this marvelous product, let’s take a look at other bizarre products available in this SkyMall issue:

  • Set of dinner plates that, together, form a (very incomplete) map of Europe. I found this so cheesy that I had to include it here.

  • Toilet for cats. It seems that this is the latest trend in the US. Two different companies launched this incredible convenience. The most advanced model really works as a toilet: it is connected to the water and sewer lines of your house and has a sensor that automatically flushes the toilet as soon as the cat finishes using it. It costs USD 300. The competing model costs more, USD 350, and it also has a sensor that cleans the cat’s litter box as soon as it gets out of it. The “material” produced by the cat, however, stays inside a compartment that you have to clean from time to time, so this toilet still uses the standard cat litter. The funny thing is that the gray cat from the advertisement looks just like the cat I used to have when I was a teenager, Minu (pronounced “meenoo”).

  • Halloween sculpture for trees. Of course this marvelous product couldn’t come from a different company but Design Toscano… This is a really useful product…

  • And, finally, the moment we were all waiting for. It. The fleeing zombie sculpture for you to “improve” your yard. I am seriously thinking on buying half a dozen of them, so I can put a couple in my yard and give the other ones to my neighbors as a Christmas gift.
