These are the unbelievable products I found on the SkyMall Holiday Issue 2008 from my collection, acquired on one of my trips to Las Vegas. Before talking about the fantastic items in this SkyMall issue, I’d like to reserve a brief moment to talk about a business that advertises everywhere in Las Vegas, including in the airport, on taxi cabs, and in the city’s “cultural guide”: The Gun Shop, which specializes in automatic weapons, including M16s, Uzis, and Tommy guns. Vegas is the only city in the world that you can visit an art museum inside the Bellagio and 15 minutes later go to a shooting range to unload an AK47. click to enlarge

But our main subject is, of course, my “favorite” magazine, the SkyMall. This 2008 holiday edition deserved an award. The laughs start at the cover, take a look at Santa’s skates. click to enlarge

- Pen with an embedded ad banner: Unmatched convenience.

- Talking scale: This is a really fantastic invention, because who is “big” can’t read the display of regular bathroom scales. I have a constructive criticism to the manufacturer, though. This would be a winner product if instead of saying the user’s weight, it said senteces like “Congratulations, you lost 20 pounds!”, “There are only ten pounds to go, uhoo!”, “God damn you fat cow, get off of me or I will break!”, etcetera.

- Watch for nerds: I thought I had seen it all at http://www.thinkgeek.com, but apparently not. This is a wristwatch where hours are represented by a square root.

- Real-sized Tutankhamun’s sarcophagus: Design Toscano is simply the best. After releasing the Yeti statue for your yard, they launched King Tut’s sarcophagus (in real size, N.B.) for you to put in the middle of your living room. Impressive.

- Real-sized Tutankhamun’s throne: Sorry to say that you lost your wager if you have bet that nothing could beat the above sarcophagus. A real-sized King Tut’s throne to match the sarcophagus.

- Antlers for pickup trucks: A picture is worth more than a thousand words. No comments.
