Conclusions
Hardware Secrets Golden Award

GeForce 7600 GT is definitely the best mid-range VGA card available today, beating high-end cards from NVIDIA previous family, like GeForce 6800 GT and GeForce 6800 GS. Also, GeForce 7600 GT simply smoked Radeon X1600 XT, making us wonder why someone in his/her right mind would buy a Radeon X1600 XT. And in several scenarios GeForce 7600 GT achieved more than double the performance of GeForce 6600 GT – a video card we think that has the best cost/benefit ratio for the average user looking for good performance paying spending up to USD 130.

While this video card can be found at USD 211.50, on average, you will find it being sold by USD 190 on TigerDirect.com. The standard GeForce 7600 GT also from XFX is quoted at USD 180 there, so the price difference between this card and a standard GeForce 7600 GT is of only 10 bucks.

So, it is worthwhile paying USD 10 more and order an overclocked model? We think so if you are willing to increase image quality settings in your games, as this overclocked model was faster than standard GeForce 7600 GT particularly when we increased the image quality settings. The performance difference between them was up to 10%, depending on the program and on the configuration we used. Since the price difference is only of 5.55%, go for it.

Do you like to play games in high resolutions? Do you like to increase video quality settings a little bit in your games? Do you have up to USD 200 to spend on a video card? This is the video card for you. If you don’t enable video quality settings it will provide you a very high performance even in high resolutions. If you enable video quality settings in high resolutions, it will still provide you a decent performance – it will provide a fantastic performance at 1024x768, for instance. Of course if you want to play at 1600x1200 or above with all image quality settings enabled with a very high performance, you will need to by a high-end – and more expensive – video card.
