Mobile models

Core i7 targeted to laptops use a socket called PGA988. They carry the same main features as socket 1156 models: integrated dual-channel memory controller supporting up to DDR3-1333 (DDR3-800 memories are not supported though), integrated PCI Express 2.0 controller supporting one x16 lane or two x8 lanes and DMI bus. The main difference between laptop and desktop models is the clock rates: in order to save battery life laptop models have a far lower nominal clock rate. However, when processing power is required, they "transform" themselves into high-performance CPUS, as you can see on the tables below.

sSpecModelInternal ClockTurbo BoostL3 Cache TDP (W)Max. Temp. (oC)Voltage (V)

SLBLY720QM1.6 GHz3.28 GHz6 MB451000.65 - 1.4

On the table below you will find the mobile Core i7 Extreme model released so far. It comes with its clock multiplier unlocked, adding one more overclocking option.

SLBLW920XM2.0 GHz3.2 GHz8 MB551000.65 - 1.4

TDP stands for Thermal Design Power and indicates the CPU maximum thermal dissipation, i.e. the CPU cooler must be able to dissipate at least this amount of heat.
