As we already mentioned, Eee PC 1002HA is based on Intel Atom N270 CPU and Mobile Intel 945GSE chipset (ICH7-M 82801GBM south bridge). The CPU runs internally at 1.6 GHz, externally at 533 MHz (133 MHz transferring four data per clock cycle), has a 512 KB L2 memory cache and dissipates only 2.5 W.

On Figure 22 you can see the CPU (up) and the north bridge chip (down) after we removed the cooler. See how the north bridge chip is bigger than the CPU!

Audio is produced by the north bridge chip with the aid of a Realtek ALC269 codec. This laptop only provides stereo audio (i.e. 2.0 format) but with high definition, as this codec provides an impressive 98 dB signal-to-noise ratio for both inputs and outputs. There is no SPDIF output and the portable features two microphones inside, physically located on its front part.

The Gigabit Ethernet port is provided by an Atheros AR8113 chip.

The memory card reader function is provided by an Alcor AU6372 chip.
