Introduction

XG, a division of MGE, brings its latest hi-power power supply unit: Duro 900. With an amazing 900 W nominal power, Duro 900 also presents four independent 12 V rails (i.e. four separated circuits to produce its 12 V outputs), a feature we’ve never seen before. We took a preliminary look on its new powerhorse from XG, internally called PSDR-900.

As you can see on Figure 1, Duro 900 doesn’t use a fancy design. It is plain back with an 80-mm back fan, and that’s it. But it delivers amazing 900 watts of power. It has active PFC, feature required by European legislation, and that’s why it doesn’t have a 110/220 V switch (all true active PFC power supplies don’t have this switch). Actually, one trick to check if a power supply has active PFC or not is by checking if it has this switch or not. To learn what the heck is PFC, read our Power Supply Tutorial.

It is an ATX12V v2.2 power supply, so it uses a 24-pin ATX motherboard connector. It also carries two auxiliary PCI Express power connectors, allowing you to use two video cards in SLI or CrossFire configuration without needing the use of any kind of adaptor.
