Configuring Your PCs

In computers that have wireless network boards, click in the network icon next to the Windows clock. You will see a list of networks available. Click on your house or office network and, in the Network key field, enter the 13-character key that you configured at the router. This key should be repeated in the field Confirm network key. Unmark the Enable IEEE 802.1x Authentication for this Network box. See Figure 2.

Enabling WEP security on your PC

Figure 2: Enabling WEP security on your PC.

If you configured the network key in a field other than field 1 in the routher, you must click in the box Advanced and, in the field Key index, enter the number of the key field (3 in the example given), see Figure 3.

Enabling WEP security on your PC

Figure 3: Advanced options.

Click on Connect (on Figure 2). If everything worked well, the computer will soon be connected to your network and to the Internet (first it will say that the network is not available, and a few seconds later the Windows will inform that it has found your network and will inform the signal level, which will possibly be excellent).

After this configuration your network will be protected and you may use it without any fear.
